Circular 01/2025 — first Working Committee after the 10th Conference

B.T.R. Bhawan, 2–3 May 2025. Solidarity with UP and NTPL Tuticorin. Preparation for the 20 May general strike. Note on the Iberian blackout attached.

The first Working Committee of EEFI after the 10th National Conference met on 2–3 May 2025 at B.T.R. Bhawan, New Delhi. Comrade Elamaram Kareem presided. Thirty-two members attended.

The Committee paid tribute to those killed at Pahalgam. It greeted electricity workers in Kashmir who stood with visitors in the hours after the attack.

It recorded the struggle in Uttar Pradesh against privatisation of the DISCOMs, and the strike notice from 29 May 2025. EEFI stands with the UP power employees and asks every constituent to be ready for solidarity action.

NTPL Tuticorin thermal workers were on the eighteenth day of strike for the NLC minimum wage. EEFI stands with them and asked COTEE to take the matter through.

The Committee circulated a note on the Iberian blackout of 28–29 April 2025 — Spain, Portugal and southern France — for discussion among POWERGRID and NTPC workers. The English and Hindi texts are on this site.

Six immediate organisational tasks from the 10th Conference were fixed for written reply by constituent unions: reach among non-regular workers and engineers; planned membership in each utility and the private sector; footing in states where EEFI is still absent; NCCOEEE; and a common line with the coal and petroleum federations.

The Committee called on every union to prepare the 20 May 2025 general strike — meetings, leaflets on the industry and on the Labour Codes, state NCCOEEE sittings, and explanation to consumers.
