Mumbai: ten thousand scheme workers open CITU’s capital-city mobilisations
Azad Maidan. Anganwadi, ASHA and NHM workers of Maharashtra. EEFI supports the struggle. More cities to follow.

CITU has planned multi-day mobilisations of workers in the major capital cities. Maharashtra opened that line. On 2 June 2026 about ten thousand scheme workers — Anganwadi, ASHA, mid-day meal and NHM — assembled at Azad Maidan, Mumbai. The sitting continued the next two days.
They demand recognition as workers: regularisation, social security, wages on time. Welfare schemes that have run for decades still treat the women who hold them as casual hands.
EEFI supports that struggle. Regular work is one demand from the anganwadi to the last pole. The same class, the same fight; the other capitals will see the same mobilisation.
