Protect existing union registration under the IR Code

Existing unions registered under the Trade Unions Act, 1926 are deemed registered under the Industrial Relations Code — if they file with the Registrar a statement that the executive and the rules conform to the Code, and if the rules are updated under Section 7.

State committees are to put a team on every affiliated union’s bye-laws now: annual general body and three-year elections, list of members, funds and audit, honorary members among office-bearers (not more than one-third or five, whichever is less, outside the unorganised sector).

Registration can be cancelled if membership falls below ten percent of the workers or one hundred, whichever is less. Prepare the statement before the Registrar asks for it. New unions after the Codes must follow the Code from the first paper.
